This Christmas I wanted to make a few DIY gifts, I saw an awesome idea for a Candy Wreath on Pinterest – but it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. I came up with a few modifications that I think made it more festive and relevant to the holiday. Instead of a mix-match of candy that has no pattern I choose to use just one candy (holiday-themed Snickers) with green wrappers (the hints of red helped) and created a pattern to piece the wreath together to create the arrangement I was looking for.

I must say I’m incredibly proud and happy with the final result! Without further ado here are the instructions to build your own DIY Christmas Candy Wreath!
Materials You Will Need:
- 1 roll of Green Mesh (bought at the Dollar Store)
- 1 Wreath Wire (bought at the Dollar Store)
- 2 Bags of Individually-Wrapped Candy (green-wrapper preferred, but you can adapt to your occasion – depending how on the size bag of candy you may need more or less)
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Red Ribbon (bought at the Dollar Store)
- Big Red Bow (bought at the Dollar Store)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prep Candy Wreath With Mesh
Using the roll of green mesh wrap around the wreath wire, try to make this even and do not leave any gaps. One roll of mesh should allow you to wrap around the wreath about 1.5 times. Hot glue the mesh in place in the back so that it won’t unwind.
The green mesh I bought at the Dollar Tree actually had hints of red in it too!
Wreath Wire completely wrapped in the green mesh – make sure to hot glue in the back so that the mesh does not unwind.
Step 2: Attach Candy to the Candy Wreath
Heat up your glue gun and once ready, take one of the wrapped candies you’ve chosen and very carefully apply glue to the wrapper’s edge (depending on your candy). Once you’ve applied the glue, press the edge of the candy into the very outer edge of the wreath. We’re going to start from the outside in to add the candies to the wreath. Remember to be mindful of the hot glue so you don’t burn yourself!
Evenly space your candy out and glue down with the edges of each candy touching so there are no gaps. Continue this until you’ve completed the outer edge of the wreath.
When beginning the second start placing the candy in between the candy in the last row. Check the picture above to see what I mean. You’ll see the the Snickers on the second row don’t align with the Snickers on the first row, you want to stagger them like this so the wreath will look fuller and be more stable when complete.
Repeat the same pattern on the third row, stagger it from the second row (this means the third row will actually line up with the first row).
You’ll repeat the same pattern for the fourth (hopefully final) and inner most row. The hard tedious part is done!
Step 3: Put a Bow on your Candy Wreath!
Lastly for the finishing touches add some ribbon curls and the top with a bow.
Viola! The finished wreath came out really awesome and the relatives whom I made it for LOVED it – though they did complain there was way too much candy – but that’s insignificant in the spectrum of things. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and make your own candy wreaths – if you do, please share with me!
