This theme was one of my absolute favorites! It let me bring so much color and culture into my home. We celebrated Carnival in Rio without ever leaving the house. Several guests even showed up in handmade Carnival wings and headdresses—I was SOOO impressed. This party is perfect for anyone who loves high energy, DIY crafts, and a reason to wear glitter.

THE FULL PARTY BREAKDOWN
Decor & Setup
To get that authentic jungle-meets-disco feel, I used layers of tinsel and lights. Here is how I transformed the space:

Wall-to-Wall Tinsel: I used green metallic tinsel for a jungle base and added metallic blue tinsel for pops of color.
Layered Lighting: I strung twinkling lights across the ceiling and paired blue lights with the blue tinsel for a neon glow.

Jungle Atmosphere: I mounted a blacklight tapestry featuring parrots and jungle scenes, then added palm leaf backgrounds and giant Monstera leaves.

DIY Touches: I taped and mounted DIY paper flowers and draped vines from the ceiling.

Photo Op: Rainbow Paper Wings
My poster board rainbow paper wings were a total statement piece. I mounted them on an artificial greenery wall using zip ties and command hooks—it was the perfect photo backdrop! We posed in front of them and these made our photos and videos incredible.

PARTY FOOD
The Menu: Brazilian Treats
I wanted the food to be as authentic as the decor, so I catered from a local Brazilian restaurant.

Food: Chicken & Cheese Coxinhas (chicken croquettes), Pão de queijo, Churros de Doce de Leite, Brigadeiros (chocolate truffles), and Ninhos (milk powder treats).
THE BAR
Signature Drinks
I served classic Brazilian cocktails and mocktails like Caipirinhas, Batidas, Brazilian Lemonade, and Brazilian Cola – any drinks you’d find in Brazil during Carnival.

Entertainment
Activities

Face Gem & Paint Station: I set up a table with colorful face paint, stencils, and gems. It made it so easy for everyone to level up their outfits!

Guest Favors: I had a basket by the door with light-up flower headbands, masquerade masks, and silk fans for anyone who needed a little extra flair.
DRESS CODE
Samba Queens & Jungle Chic

I encouraged everyone to dress as “Samba Queens” or embrace their inner “Jungle Chic.” I made my own DIY Carnival Wings and paired them with a three-piece set and a light-up headdress.
