The Perfect Party Favor
Who doesn’t need an extra hair elastic? (I know I always do!) These DIY Diamond Engagement Ring Hair Ties are the ultimate “useful meets adorable” favor for your next engagement party, bridal shower, or bachelorette bash. They are super simple to make and look so high-end once they’re finished.
What You’ll Need
- Diamond Ring Cut File (get on Etsy)
- Gold or silver stretchy elastic hair bands (like these or these)
- Gold or silver glitter cardstock
- White cardstock
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- White glue
How to Make Them
Step by Step Instructions
Cut Your Shapes
Start by cutting out your diamond engagement ring shapes from your cardstock. You can purchase the cut file on Etsy here. These are best cut at 1.62″ x 3.62″ but will ultimately depend on your selection of elastic band.

Lay Out the Pieces
Place your glitter piece face down on your work surface.

Glue the Diamond
Trace the back of the diamond shape with white glue.

Layer Up
Press the smaller white diamond piece onto the wet glue. Make sure the edges align perfectly!

Set and Dry
Apply pressure to set the pieces. Pro Tip: You can use mini clothes pins to hold them together while they dry. Repeat this for the opposite end of the other diamond.

Add the Elastic & Apply Hot Glue
Loop your elastic band onto the middle of the glitter piece. It should rest right on the “band” section of your cut-out.
Add a tiny line of hot glue at the very top edge of the white backing piece.

The Final Fold & Seal
Fold the gold glitter piece around the elastic and press the top edges together. Once it’s dry, you’re all set to party!

Note
I used gold for this version, but you can easily swap for silver bands and silver glitter cardstock for a “white gold” look. 🥂 Heck, you can even go with rose gold or copper to match your specific party theme! There are so many ways to make these fit your vision.
Time and Cost
Time: ~30 minutes (depending on how many you’re making!)
Cost: Under $10 (each favor should cost ~25-50 cents)
