How to Host a Spectacular Moulin Rouge Party (A Night in Paris)

If you love dramatic red tinsel, a touch of risqué glamour, and enough cheese fondue to feed an army, this is your party. This theme is the ultimate choice for a Galentine’s Day bash (that’s what I did last year!), a milestone birthday, or a high-energy bachelorette.

Decor & Setup

We wanted to transport everyone to 1899 Paris – but with a modern, sparkly twist.

Moulin Rouge Party Heart Marquee Light

The Marquee Heart
A flexible LED light strip shaped into a “heart” on the wall. It took less than 30 minutes but was a total “wow factor.”

The Main Sign: A DIY “Moulin Rouge” sign using Cricut-cut gold letters on black foam core with red LED outlines.

Red Wall Tinsel: I covered the entire downstairs walls in red tinsel. It made the biggest impact for the price!

Tablescape

I started with a Gold Sequin Table Cloth for maximum impact. Red taper and pillar candles in gold holders provided that moody Parisian lighting and I used mini disco balls as table scatter. It added a fun, modern “party” flair to the vintage look.

THE BAR

Signature Drinks

Of these Moulin Rouge Party themed drinks the chocolate-covered raspberry martini was the crowd favorite. Don’t forget the garnishes they really elevated the cocktails!

DRESS CODE

Sequin & Lace

Woman wearing a moulin rouge party outfit with fringe outfit and lace for a Moulin Rouge Party

I wore a Maroon Sequin & Fringe Dance Bodysuit with a built in rhinestone collar necklace – super flattering on my body and comfortable! I found this gem on Facebook Marketplace (as well as a few other items you’ll see in future parties to come).

I paired it with Nude nylons which I layered with Black Fishnets on top to give my legs a smooth finish underneath but still stay on theme with the risqué look! It also provided an extra layer of warmth with how short the bodysuit was.

For accessories I had rhinestone earrings and black lace fingerless gloves
Lastly, I wore my go to Rhinestone kitten Heels to complete the look
